RS-232

A serial, asynchronous hardware interface for data exchange between two electronic devices. It is designed as a voltage interface, meaning that the binary representation of the data is conveyed through different voltage levels. RS-232 interfaces are still found in many analysis and test instruments, even though they are gradually being replaced by USB or even network interfaces.
