Software as a service: Concept for providing users with software applications via the Internet for use for a fee. The software and the necessary infrastructure are operated by an external IT service provider. The costs typically depend on the number of users working with the software or on the modules used (functional scope) of the software provided. SaaS is a typical representative of cloud computing.
