A recent study by the FutureManagementGroup, in collaboration with the German industry association SPECTARIS, has found that analytical and laboratory technology is among the most promising future-oriented sectors within the German economy. This assessment is based on an analysis of 25 industrial sectors with regard to significant future trends through the year 2040. The overarching sector of analytical, laboratory, and medical technology, to which analytical and laboratory technology belongs, ranked fourth in the ranking of future-oriented industries.

• Quantum computing for high-performance analysis
• “Laboratory 4.0” as a paradigm shift
• AI-supported diagnostic solutions
• Sustainable laboratory processes
These are new business models and growth opportunities:
• AI-based subscription-based analytics services
• Portable diagnostic tools
• Sustainability certifications
