In an interview with LABO, Dr. Janina Bolling from the SPECTARIS trade association spoke about the most important developments and challenges in the laboratory sector:
The publication of LADS OPC UA, a new standard for laboratory communication that enables the integration of devices and software across manufacturers, was a significant success. The biggest challenges remain regulatory in nature.
The industry is currently being shaped by the digital transformation, particularly the automation of processes, efficient data management and cyber security. Sustainability and resource conservation also play an important role.
For the future, Dr Bolling plans to further develop LADS OPC UA and focus on robotics and AI in order to optimize laboratory processes and integrate new technologies. Projects in the areas of sustainability and start-ups are also planned.
