LIMS

Laboratory InformationandManagement System: A database-driven IT system designed to support and control laboratory processes and manage data. This category of software systems deals with data processing in chemical, physical, biological, and medical laboratories. In principle, any laboratory can be classified here, but the term LIMS is not necessarily used in all of the sectors mentioned—in medical laboratories, the abbreviation LIS is commonly used.
