LES (Laboratory Execution System)

A software application designed to support the systematic, documented performance of analyses, preparatory steps, or reagent preparation in the laboratory. The user is guided through the process via dialog boxes containing prompts or instructions and is simultaneously prompted to enter the relevant data for each step manually or electronically (SOP-oriented dialog forms). LES applications are often found in regulated sectors such as the pharmaceutical industry, but also in other laboratories with high documentation requirements.
