Laboratory Execution System: a software application, particularly for quality control laboratories, which guides the user in the laboratory through predefined SOPs and test specifications and thus facilitates compliance with them. An LES can be seen as a software category in its own right, but also only as a manifestation of a LIMS or an ELN.
