Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) / Internet Protocol(IP): TCP/IP is a family of standardized network protocols that cover the switching and transport of data packets in a network (e.g. LAN, WAN). The TCP/IP reference model relevant to the Internet consists of four layers that build on each other (network, Internet, transport and application layers). The IP protocol is responsible for sending (routing) the data packets, while TCP is responsible for delivering the data securely.
