Java

An object-oriented programming language developed by Sun Microsystems (Oracle). Java can be used to develop software programs that are platform-independent and can run on a wide variety of operating systems and computer configurations. With the help of applets, Java applications can be executed within a Java-enabled web browser. Java consists of a development kit (JDK) and the Java Runtime Environment.
