Depending on the type of cloud offering, this may involve the provision of software applications or IT infrastructure, such as data storage or computing capacity. The cloud can be operated as a “private cloud” within a company’s own organization or made available by specialized service providers as a “public cloud” for any user, in which case the user no longer knows where the computers are located (worldwide).
