Researchers have trained an AI process to predict potential active ingredients with special properties. To do this, they used a chemical language model - a kind of ChatGPT for molecules. After a training phase, the AI was able to generate the chemical structural formulas of compounds that could potentially be particularly effective drugs.
Nowadays, you don't have to be a poet to write a poem for your grandma on her 90th birthday: a quick prompt to ChatGPT is all it takes for the AI to spit out a long list of words that rhyme with the birthday girl's name within a few seconds. It can even generate a sonnet on request. Researchers at the University of Bonn have implemented a similar model in their study - a chemical language model.
