A barcode is an optoelectronically readable font that consists of parallel bars and spaces of different widths. The term code does not stand for encryption, but for the representation of data in binary symbols. The data in a barcode is read by machine using optical readers, such as barcode readers (scanners) or cameras, and processed electronically.
