Labordatenbank, a leading provider of laboratory software solutions, announces the successful completion of the ISO 27001 audit, an internationally recognized standard for information security management. This makes Labordatenbank the first SaaS LIMS in the German-speaking world to achieve this certification.
Background
Two years ago, on August 30, 2021, the company was shaken up by a ransomware attack on a competitor in the laboratory software sector. Thomas Traugott from the Austrian laboratory Sinsoma reported a serious incident in which numerous customers of the hacked software provider were the target of a cyberattack. This disturbing news served as a catalyst for Labordatenbank to launch a far-reaching initiative to improve data security.
The initiative
Over the following two years, Labordatenbank has developed an information security management system that includes a range of small and large measures - from technological improvements to the way employees handle sensitive customer data.
The certification
The ISO 27001 certification now officially confirms that Labordatenbank meets the highest standards when processing and securing customer information and other sensitive data. "Our customers entrust us with their most sacred data," says Konrad Wagner, Managing Director of Labordatenbank.
Further roadmap
Although the company has reached this important milestone, Labordatenbank emphasizes that there is still a lot to do. "ISO 27001 certification is an important step, but by no means an end goal. The cyber landscape is constantly changing and we are determined to remain proactive and continuously improve our practices," says Wagner.
